Laboratory diagnostics
On the basis of the order of the Union of People’s Commissars of Health at the Republican Feldsher-Obstetric School of the Kazakh SSR, on February 11, 1946, a department of medical laboratory assistants was opened with a contingent of students in the amount of 70 people.
The first graduation consisted of 20 laboratory assistants (1948). Today, 70-100 laboratory assistants graduate annually.
Since 1948, more than 3500 assistant physicians-laboratory assistants have graduated from the Laboratory Diagnostics Department.
Currently, the department employs 59 teachers. The teachers are highly qualified.
At the moment, candidates of medical and biological sciences are working on the specialty: Doskeeva R.A. , Sarsenbaeva M.Z..
Classes at the department are held in educational and practical classrooms, using modern laboratory equipment: Microbiological (bacteriological), biochemical, sanitary and hygienic, clinical laboratory.
The work of clinical diagnostic laboratories is getting more complicated every year. Along with quantitative growth, laboratory research is also undergoing profound qualitative changes. In accordance with the achievements of medical science and technology, they are continuously enriched with new methods, the implementation of which requires the use of various and complex equipment.
The introduction into the widespread practice of clinical diagnostic laboratories of the latest instruments and means of small-scale mechanization significantly increases the requirements for the quality of training of specialists and the reliability of laboratory tests.
Thus, in practical classes, the analysis of specific clinical situations is used, bringing the independent work of students closer to real working conditions, special attention is paid to the development and hone of professional knowledge, skills and abilities.
The Department of Laboratory Diagnostics uses modern innovative technologies: hematology analyzer, spectrometer, coagulometer, urinary analyzer, trinocular and binocular microscopes, electronic leukocyte counts, centrifuges, electronic scales, semi-automatic biochemical analyzers, portable biochemical analyzers and glucometers, KFK ovens, ovens muffle, etc.

Training period:
2 years 10 months on the basis of secondary (complete) general education of 11 classes
3 years 10 months on the basis of basic general education of 9 classes
Today there are 366 students in the department.
The area of professional activity of graduates:
– conducting clinical, microbiological and sanitary and hygienic laboratory tests.
After graduating from the Republican Medical College, graduates can work in the specialty:
– in clinical diagnostic laboratories of medical organizations of the Republic;
– in private clinical diagnostic laboratories.
Educational, industrial (according to the profile of the specialty) and industrial (pre-diploma) practice are held at the bases of multidisciplinary hospitals and polyclinics of the Department of Health of the city of Almaty.
